Neustadt an der Donau

is in the beautiful Danube River Valley and is part of the rural district of Kelheim in Lower Bavaria. The town of 12,900 residents acts as a hub between the historic cities of Regensburg, Ingolstadt and Landshut. The distinctive cultivation of asparagus and hops is characteristic of the region. However, far beyond the region itself, Neustadt is known primarily for the Limes thermal bath of the Bad Goegging spa and resort.

You can find a large number of accommodations at affordable prices in Neustadt an der Donau and the surrounding area. We can help you find short-term accommodations, if needed. The region is excellent for families and offers a wide range of daycare, pre-school, primary and secondary school options. Accredited technical colleges and universities in the area provide additional training and continuing education opportunities.

The region also offers a wide variety of sports and leisure activities. A large number of festivals also entice visitors and residents to experience Bavarian tradition up close and personal: For instance, the Gillamoos in Abensberg or the Staubinger Gäubodenfest, which is the second largest folk festival in Bavaria, are always worth the trip.

Regensburg

also known as the “northernmost Italian city” is approximately 50 km from Neustadt an der Donau and can be easily reached by a very good railway network and by motorway via the A9 or the A93. Due to its historical landmarks, the city of Regensburg has been a UNESCO world heritage site since 2006.

The Italian flair of the small alleyways with numerous bars and restaurants makes the city center, located directly on the Danube, quite something to experience, especially in the summer. In the winter, the traditional Christmas markets are particularly worth the visit.

Ingolstadt

Not far from Neustadt an der Donau is the second largest city in Upper Bavaria: Ingolstadt is known for its numerous cultural institutions and shopping options – above all the bustling “Ingolstadt Village Designer Outlet” or Westpark with more than 150 shops.

The ERC Ingolstadt ice hockey team and the FC Ingolstadt soccer club also make the city very popular among sports fans.

Landshut

Also right near Neustadt is the peaceful town of Landshut. The Trausnitz castle is a special attraction and sits regally on the highest point of the precipice above the Isar river. The historic city center surrounded by Gothic middle-class homes with their small businesses and historic churches is also worth visiting.
